Having Jehovah’s Witness going parents, DR Abel Sande grew up as one from birth. DR Sande moved to Apostolic Mission Church after somebody witnessed to him and convinced him to make that move. He was baptized with water and the Holy Spirit. In 1949 soon after moving to Apostolic Mission Church he was elected as youth leader in Chinhoyi where he was now working. DR Sande then joined the Assemblies of God and became a full-time pastor in 1964 in the same church. In 1967 DR Sande and Dr. Guti started a new Church called Assemblies of God Africa (A.O.G.A). Dr. Guti was chairman and DR Sande was Vice Chairman of A.O.G.A.
CALL TO MINISTRY
DR Sande was called to Ministry in 1963. He was at this time a supervisor at Pockets Bakery. He became a part-time Pastor leading a church in Marondera for Assemblies of God. In 1964 he became a full-time pastor at Marondera Assemblies of God. As a young man Abel Sande worked very hard both for his up keep and for the Lord’s work. This put him close to the man of God. He therefore received many showers of prophecies whenever there was a powerful move of the Spirit of God. He received prophecies in private and in public. The Lord has been gracious and faithful to his servant so that to date most of the prophecies have been fulfilled.
DR A.K. Sande attended his first theological school in 1966. At this time he was a full-time pastor at Marondera Assemblies of God. He attended the Canadian Assemblies of God Theological School in Mutare, Zimbabwe. In 1978 he went to Nigeria to undergo further studies in Theology. He attended All Nations for Christ Bible Institute under Rev. Benson Idahosa in Benin City, Nigeria. At this school he also received prophecies declaring success in Ministry. Whilst in Nigeria, the burden for the work of God increased exponentially. The desire to go back to Zimbabwe was so strong and made one year’s theological education enough to take him back to Zimbabwe for evangelism work.
THE MISSIONARY WORK
DR Sande has been on mission since 1950 up to the present day. He is one of the greatest evangelists Africa has ever produced. He has seen it all. DR Sande has experienced the joys and sorrows of giving up everything for the sake of Christ. He has faced the gates of jail and death but God always fought for him. DR Sande has witnessed God using him to raise the dead, heal different kinds of diseases and performing many other miracles. He has seen the blind receive their sight; the deaf hearing; the dumb talking; the lame walking and the demon possessed delivered. God has been very faithful. As a missionary worker, DR Sande has crossed many borders and planted many churches. He has brought millions of people to Christ. In Zimbabwe he is respected and is a father and mentor to many. He traveled as an evangelist in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, when war was very fierce. Many preachers were killed during this period but God preserved DR Sande’s life. As a missionary worker he was nicknamed “Caterpillar” or “Big Engine” as people accepted and admired his diligence for God’s work. He has been to such countries as Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Bahamas, Portugal, Mozambique, South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Israel, Kenya, D.R.C. and the United States of America. DR Sande has been in the ministry for more than half a century. Since 1950 Reverend Sande only managed to rest for 3 months in 2010 from early September to early December during the time he was in the United States of America.
DR Abel Sande grew to become a prayer warrior under mentorship of Dr. Ezekiel Guti. More than twice when the two were in prayer angels visited them and spoke to Dr. Guti giving him the vision of the church. DR Sande has been involved in prayer many times for a continuous period of about 24 hours. He was a member of an International group of Prayer warriors who pledged to pray for International revivals on a daily basis without fail. Such kinds of prayers he still undertakes. His knees testify to the amount of prayer he has done. He pledged to intercede daily for all members of the prayer band: • To pray daily that God would send forth laborers into his harvest to accomplish world evangelization. • To pray daily for his own church which he attended that it may enjoy a deliverance revival. • To pray that gifts of the spirit would be returned fully in power to the church. • To pray daily that the church may become one. • To pray daily that he be consecrated to the absolute will of God.
FOUNDING OF ASSEMBLIES OF GOD AFRICA
DR Abel Sande and Dr. Ezekiel Guti fellowshipped together for a long time. They had private prayer meetings together and God visited them frequently in prayer whilst in the Assemblies of God Church. DR Sande and Dr. Guti decided to start a church called the Assemblies of God Africa (A.O.G.A) in 1967: Dr. Guti was Chairman and DR Sande was Vice Chairman. DR Sande and Dr. Guti worked together for a long time, Rev. Sande being the evangelist and church planter. As an evangelist he moved across the borders of Zimbabwe and other neighboring countries. In Zimbabwe he criss crossed to Chinhoyi, Mhangura, Karoi, Mutare, Mberengwa, Masvingo, Beitbridge, Bulawayo, Gweru, KweKwe, Kadoma, Chegutu, Mudzi, Kariba, Mutoko, Kotwa, and the whole of Harare. He pitched a tent to preach all over Zimbabwe. God used Reverend Sande in great crusades across the nation. God enlarged the tents of A.O.G.A. as Reverend Sande crossed borders as an evangelist. Rev. Sande crossed many African borders for the sake of the gospel. Some of the countries are Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Malawi to mention but a few.
THE BIRTH OF AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST MINISTRIES INTERNATIONALDR Abel Sande worked as Dr. Ezekiel Guti’s Vice Chairman since the founding of Assemblies of God Africa in 1967. He also worked as an Overseer, Pastor, District Chairman and Evangelist, majoring in evangelism. A.O.G.A. dynamically grew and spread across the globe. As A.O.G.A. grew, its name was changed to Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (Z.A.O.G.A). After 20 years of faithfully working for God in Z.A.O.G.A., also known as Forward in Faith, Reverend Sande was led to start another ministry as its Apostle. On the 11th October 1987 Ambassadors for Christ International was born. Its name was established from 2 Corinthians 5:20. As giving birth to a baby is painful, the birthing of Ambassadors For Christ Ministries International was a painful experience. Nevertheless, Ambassadors for Christ Ministries survived and managed to grow. Ambassadors for Christ Ministries International iscelebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012. Because of the grace of God we have experienced rapid growth to an extend that as we speak right now, Ambassadors for Christ Ministries International is now in South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania and U.S.A. In Mozambique we have managed to acquire church stands in Maputo, Beira, Tete, Kuchamano and Nampula
THE GROWTH OF AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL
Ambassadors for Christ Ministries International was founded on the 11th of October 1987. Since then Holy Spirit powered national crusades hit the country of Zimbabwe. Ambassadors for Christ Ministries International grew rapidly and became very strong. Assemblies were established in high and low density suburbs, in rural areas and even in military and police camps. All kinds of people were converted and became strong Christians. To date Ambassadors for Christ Ministries International has grown all over the regions of Zimbabwe, though a lot of work still needs to be done. Ambassadors for Christ Ministries International is now fully established in Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi and South Africa. New assemblies have been started in Namibia and the United States of America. Ambassadors for Christ Ministries International has realized growth in every department. Some departments are coming up to cater for the different people in the church. Some of the departments are Children’s ministry, youth ministry, women’s ministry, men’s fellowship, girls fellowship, single mothers’ fellowship and widows fellowship. The growth of the ministries into many areas and across the borders demanded an increase in leaders, pastors mainly. Because of this a Bible College was needed to cater for the demand. In 1997 Ephesians Bible Leadership Training Institute was opened. This was another stride towards the growth of the church. God has been faithful to his word in Isaiah 9:7 “that as for the increase of Christ’s governments there shall be no end.”
MISSION AND VISION OF THE CHURCH
Ambassadors for Christ Ministries International is driven by Christ’s great commission as its source of mission and vision. Ambassadors for Christ Ministries’ Mission Statement is the Great Commission unaltered: “To go and preach the gospel unto every nation baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and teaching them the commands entrusted to the church by Jesus Christ,” Matthew 28:19-20. Vision: To realize an earth under the power and control of Christ as all nations, tribes, creeds, races, families and individuals accept and embrace the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ as it’s preached to them so that the coming of Christ will be welcomed by a perfect and ready bride. This mission and vision of the church have brought about great strides towards the growth of the body of Christ. The young and the old are constantly coming to Christ.
